Bengaluru, May 31: BJP national president Amit Shah had promised 'favours' to Congress MLA D K Shivakumar, when the then energy minister hosted Gujarat MLAs in a Bengaluru resort to save them from poaching, alleged MLC C M Lingappa.
Ahead of the crucial Rajya Sabha polls back on August 8, 2017, the Gujarat MLAs were shifted to Bengaluru to protect them from alleged harassment by the BJP to switch sides. D K Shivakumar had played an important role in hosting the MLAs.
Lingappa says that Shivakumar received a call from Amit Shah, asking him to convince 4 MLAs to switch sides. In return, he said that he would be given a huge 'favour'.
However, Shivakumar did not relent, says Lingappa. "'Congress loyalty runs in my veins. I will not break the trust of my party', Shivakumar had told Shah," said Lingappa.
The revelation by Lingappa comes at a time when Shivakumar held a press meet blaming BJP for letting loose a witch hunt on him and his relatives. It is said that CBI has obtained serach warrants against D K Suresh and 11 others. D K Shivakumar and his brother D K Suresh blamed the BJP government for the CBI raids against them to pressure them to support BJP.
