Mangalore: Film Personality Mahesh Bhat in Mangalore on a Fact-Finding Mission

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 16: A delegation of citizens, led by eminent film personality Mahesh Bhat, accompanied by Dr Abraham Mathai, vice chairman of Maharashtra Minorities Commission and general secretary of All India Christian Council, is scheduled to visit the city on a fact-finding mission in the city on Tuesday September 16. Prominent among the others who are scheduled to accompany him during the visit are, Joseph Dias, general secretary of the Catholic Secular Forum (CSF), the Mumbai-based national community NGO and representatives of secular society. The objective of the delegation is to get a first-hand report of the violence against Christians, which saw 18 churches and worship centres attacked and almost a hundred citizens injured, including nuns, priests, pastors and church-workers.

The delegation also plans to meet the bishop of Mangalore, Aloysius Paul D'souza and Christian leaders, who have been at a receiving end of the attacks, and express solidarity of secular Indians, to the persecuted Christians in the state. The delegation will address a press conference later in the day, and a report of the delegation's visit will be presented  to the President of India, Prime Minister, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, union home minister, governor of the state, MPs etc., in addition to international human rights organizations.

It may be recalled, that the delegation had visited Orissa after the anti-Christian violence there and had later met the President, after which some normalcy returned to the state. It is clear, that a similar pattern is being followed in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh states, a development which is a cause for concern for the citizens of the country.

Who is this Mahesh Bhat? What does he know about Managlore - How can he find the truth if he speaks to only one side. Does he know what really started the trouble? Madhu, I really hope the world will know whats happening in Mangalore - Peaceful Hindus are incited, provoked by insulting their faith. Abhishek, it is not the conversion that triggered the problem - it is the insult to Hindu Gods that started the problem - If same thing had happened to other faith, whole world would have been witnessing the voilence now! - remeber the cartoon incident??

This Bhat should go to Kashmir to see the fact finding. Such gimmicks by Bhats , Kharges and tomorrow Deve Gowda all are sheer waste. What they can do unless our own people sit together and sort out the issues which is still possible.

We can expect one more film based on church attacks. Starring will be Imran hashmi Kangna Mallika Pooja Bhat xyz. It will be fairly realistic with very good scenes of Sunder Bans and much of the shooting may be in Khandamal ,Orissa. No surprise if the Fact finding mission will be the award winning one like “DADA PHALKE,MAGSASY etc etc.

Its good to hear there are some concerned in this country. Only hope is that truth will not be diluted or shadowed. The BJP government who are the caretakers of his fellow citizens are presently the perparators of crime against the minorities.

India is the motherland of all citizens with no distinction of their religion.Do not let these selfish forces breed hatred and strife.Let TRUTH and JUSTICE reign in this soverign nation, once again.

At least Mr. Bhatt has the guts to take the initiative in favour of Christians, as he did so for Orissa. It is a known fact that film personalities wield huge power which sadly most use to sway consumers for commercialism. It would be heartening to see the Shetty's and Rai's in the glamour world as well as the business arena to come forward and lend their voices towards the injustice in their homeland. And no, this would not mean meddling into politics.

This fellow will only add oil to the burning fire, since he is so biased as we have seen his statements during the bomb blasts in Mumbai. It's better to ban these personalities at first in India to have peace.

It is great to see eminent personalities like Mahesh Bhatt who will be coming to Mangalore on a fact finding mission regarding the violence on Christians. I thought we Christians would be left to ourselves to fight for our cause and save ourselves. But is it good to see that there are good people who do care.
