Bengaluru, Jun 2: St Joseph’s College of Law, Bengaluru celebrated its first college day on Friday June 1. The event marked the completion of two academic semesters.
Director Fr Swebert D’Silva, made a presentation of the annual report highlighting the multidimensional progress of the institution. Academics with a rigorous curriculum made way for good results in the first semester of the KSLU examinations, with a host of co curricular programmes comprising lectures by distinguished speakers, workshops on legal themes, faculty improvement programmes, collaborative ventures with Institutions of eminence both locally and international, deserve special mention. Sporting events were also organized for students.
The chief guest for the event, Justice John Michael D’Cunha, high court of Karnataka, addressed the gathering and gave away the certificates of merit to students.
In his address Justice D’Cuhna commended the College on its achievements and for a very impressive beginning. He recalled his college days and compared the facilities and opportunities students enjoyed at St Joseph’s College of Law and complimented the management for the efforts and initiative for making legal education effective and meaningful. He encouraged the students to get into the practice of litigation rather than the corporate field since through litigation practice one could truly promote justice and become an agent of transforming the society.
Fr Anthony Joseph, rector, Mount Saint Joseph commended the progress of the new institution. He also highlighted the purpose of establishing the institution as creation of men and women for others who will bring in justice in our society.
The function concluded with an impressive cultural programme arranged by the students.
