Mangaluru airport introduces WiFi facility for passengers, free for 45 mins

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jun 5: In a happy news for air travellers, Mangaluru International Airport has introduced WiFi facility for passengers.

The WiFi will be free for the first 45 minutes.

Passengers wanting to connect to the WiFi may use the facility by selecting 'AAI Free Vodafone WiFi' in the list of wireless networks appearing on the phone's WiFi scanner.

The airport also tweeted about it: "Free WiFi facility has been introduced at MIA for passengers. Free use up to 45 min only. Wi Fi name is.  AAI Free Vodafone WiFi."

The WiFi facility has been introduced on a trial basis and will be commissioned later based on the response.

In 2015, BSNL had collaborated with the airport to introduce WiFi facility for 30 minutes.

In the recent past, under V V Rao as the director, has introduced several facilities to enhance passenger experience, such as machines to dispense fragrance of Mangaluru jasmine at stragetic points, sanitary napkin vending machines in women washrooms, etc. A couple of months ago, the airport bagged the title of the cleanest airport in India.

Good Initiative but 45 min is too less a time when for any given flight the minimal passenger reporting time is 45 min for domestic and 2 hrs for international departures.. and isnt MIA an international airport??
Also do something about the loot done in the name of parking toll.. Why is the parking toll collected at the entrance to the airport and not at the entrance of the parking lot?? Just because of the airport authorities inefficiencies and nexus with the parking management vendor passengers and general public are fleeced and cheated.. This is not the way any other airport operates..

Free ? Since when ? I saw a reasonable charge in my E-ticket about a month back, that came by default. Hence, tried to get connected, it did work for about 15-30 mins. max.

If passengers traveling recently don't have that charge showing in their tickets, it can be believed that its free of cost. Else, its another gimmick.

Where is the connection between E-ticket & Wi-Fi? E-ticket, you book it online or through agent & Wi-Fi is in the airport. Through Wi-Fi, you try to browse any website @ the airport & agree to terms & conditions & that's it.

    Sir,

E-Tickets come with airport tax, fuel cost/tax, food (if special items ordered), desired seats reservation - cost of all these displayed. One display is Wi-Fi charges, for both, at boarding and destination, separately.

I too have booked E-ticket lot of times for the past 20 years. I have seen basic fare, fuel surcharge, extra luggage charge, but I have not seen Wi-Fi charge anywhere.
