Kundapur, Jun 6: A false accusation of rape, accompanied by an edited clip was posted on social media against Nagaraj Shetty Naikambli of Kundapur taluk by people suspected to differ with him on political ideology.
Nagaraj, who is visibly disturbed by the incident, is planning to file a complaint with cyber crime police.
Nagaraj, employed in Bengaluru, is a noted amateur Yakshagana organizer. He had canvassed for BJP in the social media in the recently concluded assembly elections. It is suspected that due to this reason, certain individuals have tried to disgrace Nagaraj by circulating this post on social sites.
Miscreants have posted the photo of Nagaraj Shetty alongside that of an unknown child and have made it look like the news was broadcast in a popular TV news channel of the state.
Reacting to this post, Nagaraj Shetty Naikambli said, "This is a systematic propaganda to defame me as I have worked for BJP in the social media in the recently held assembly elections of Karnataka. I have contacted the news channel in the edited picture that is appearing in my name on social media and have collected information. I will file a police complaint against the people responsible for this post as well as those who have shared the same."
