Vijayapura, Jun 7: Vijayapura BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has created a new controversy saying that he will not allow women who are wearing burqa in his office.
Speaking in a programme held in Vijayapura on Thursday, he said “Women wearing burqa should not be seen near my office. Muslims have not voted for me. Only Hindus have elected me. Therefore, only Hindus will be allowed in my office,”
He is the second BJP leader in the state after union minister Ananth Kumar Hegde who is caught up in such controversy.
Yatnal also said that he won only because of Hindu votes. “Those who grow beard, wear caps and wear burqa should not wander in front of my office. Do not work in favour of Muslims,” he told the people who attended the programme.
