Mangaluru, Jun 9: The management, students and staff of Sandesha Foundation for Cultural and Education, gave a befitting farewell to outgoing director Fr Vijay Victor Lobo and assistant director Br Victor Crasta at Sandesha auditorium on Friday, June 8. Fr Nelson D’Almeida took over as new director on the same occasion.
Henry D’Souza, bishop of Bellary diocese and chairman of Sandesha Foundation presided over the programme. Fr Joseph Martis, rector, Jeppu seminary, Roy Castelino, trustee, Sandesha, and Fr Nelson D’Almeida were present on the dais.
Welcoming the dignitaries and gathering Roy Castelino said, “It is not only a programme of farewell, but also an event of welcome, as we welcome Fr Nelson as the new director. Fr Vijay and Br Victor rendered their service for Sandesha and during their tenure, the institution climbed new heights. It is painful to give farewell to both, but we are happy to receive a new director who is a bunch of talents,"
In his presidential address, Bishop Henry D’Souza said, "Fr Vijay and Br Victor have similarities in their names and their skills. Fr Vijay’s six and half year service is appreciable and is eligible to be written in the institution’s history in golden letters. His friendly nature attracted more and more people towards this institution. He led the institution with his creative and innovative ideas. Being a good orator and administrator, he won the hearts of students and staff of this institution. He never compromised with quality and the well-planned programmes proved it. His dedication and commitment helped the institution to get more popular in society,”
“Br Victor served here only for a year. He succeeded to put an impact of ten year s of service. As a close person with media, he always tried to keep the institution in limelight. Now as both are leaving, we are proud of their new postings and always generous with their service which they rendered here,” he added.
Fr Vijay said, "I am grateful to Bishop Henry for his guidance in the past six years. It was a wonderful experience here. I got to learn many things from this institution. I gave my best to give this institution and I am satisfied with my service. I will maintain a close relationship with this institution in future too. I am thanking all those who supported and worked with me for the past six years,”
Br Victor said, "I was surprised when I received a call from Bishop Henry requesting my service for Sandesha. I told him if my superior gives me the permission, I will readily render my service for this institution. Soon, I got appointed as the assistant director of Sandesha. In the terms of service, one and half year is nothing. But as a responsible person, I tried to give my best to this institution. Director Fr Vijay guided me very well and took care of me. I received love and care from every staff and trustee. It is a memorable term and I will always cherish it,”
Fr Vijay handed over the charge to new director Fr Nelson D’Almeida.
Fr Nelson D’Almeida thanked Sandesha Foundation for choosing him as director. He promised that he will take the institution to greater heights. “This institution is a boat. I am driving it to its destination with positive approach. I will keep the objectives of the institution always in mind while I work here. I will move on the path shown by previous directors. I wish all the best for Fr Vijay as procurator at Mangaluru diocese and for Br Victor as executive at Assisi Press. I request all of you to extend your support to me during my tenure here,”
Anil D’Cunha and Daya Victor Lobo gave a brief introduction of Fr Vijay and Br Victor’s service in Sandesha.
