Mangaluru, Jun 9: A student was attacked by a gang at Maratimoole mosque compound on Friday, June 8.
Shaklain (16) is the victim. He has sustained injuries.

Shaklain is a student of a residential school at Natekal. As per information available, three people from Manjeshwar were in the gang which attacked him.

Shaklain and his classmate Araf had a fight over a silly matter during the dusk on Friday. The teachers intervened and pacified them. The teachers then asked Shaklain and Araf to go to Maratimoole mosque for evening Namaz.

It is said that Araf phoned his friends in between and sought help to teach a lesson to Shaklain.

When Shaklain was performing Namaz in the compound of Maratimoole mosque, three people came suddenly and attacked him with hockey sticks.

When Shaklain shouted for help, many people came to his recue. But at that time the culprits ran away from the spot. They left the car they had brought which has Kerala registration.

Shaklain is taking treatment in a hospital at Natekal.

Police have taken up investigations.
