Bengaluru: Several Congress, JD(S) MLAs willing to join BJP, claims Yeddyurappa

Bengaluru, Jun 9 (PTI): BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa on Saturday claimed that several disgruntled leaders from the ruling Congress and JD(S) are eager to join his party.

Yeddyurappa's comments come as dissident activities of the MLAs intensified in the Congress over not getting ministerial berths.

The former chief minister, who is also the state BJP chief, asked his partymen to work as a strong opposition and prepare for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

"Several disgruntled young leaders from Congress and JD(S) are eager to join the BJP," Yeddyurappa said.

Addressing partymen, he said, "It is our responsibility to induct those who are disgruntled with the JD(S) and Congress and their style of administration in every assembly segment, and are willing to join the BJP, thereby strengthening the party in every constituency."

The BJP leader said the party has "complete strength" with 104 members in the assembly and urged members to work as a "strong opposition."

"How long this government will function is a different matter, but without aspiring for seat of power, let us all 104 members work as successful opposition with our good work."

After the assembly polls threw up hung assembly in the May 12 elections, the BJP, which emerged as the single largest party, staked claim to form the government but conceded the numbers game with Yeddyurappa resigning on May 19 without facing the trust vote.

Following this, the Congress-JD(S) post-poll coalition formed the government in the state, under the leadership of HD Kumaraswamy.

Calling upon BJP Yuva Morcha to strengthen the organisation at every assembly constituency level, Yeddyurappa said that "by doing this let us prepare ourselves for the Lok Sabha election."

With his government facing birth pangs of coalition politics, Kumaraswamy yesterday stepped in to check the disquiet among newly elected Congress lawmakers who were left out during the Cabinet expansion, but they remained defiant.

This man does not seem to stop; wants power at any rate. Yeddiji, allow the coalition to function; if you try and bring it down, people will throw you out in the next election. Why are you so greedy for power.

Its a pity on our population. When we sell our vote for money and when someone wins by paying money, he will definitely not do any good work for the society and people also lose their right to question, as they are already paid. Let us have good transparent leaders, who work amicably with opponents by taking them into confidence, rather always beating around religion, misguiding and confusing people and programmes without any development. Must not vote for leaders, who change parties every now and then. At least we have a secular government though it is coalition and lets work along and prove its worth.

Try to do something constructive as an opposition leader instead of wasting your time indulging in rotten corrupt practices of buying people like cattle. You are infested with the disease of getting power by hook or by crook. You are past 75 years now. Spend the rest of your life doing something good for the people of the state.

    Kuthanthri Yeddi!

Congress and JDS have similar positions on many issues - ideologically they are like two mangoes from
the same bunch and the tree!
BJP is a religious outfit not a politically active nor economically strong force.
BJP mixes religion in all its day to day activities - they want to take us back to Ashoka and Ramaraj!
The world has evolved - Mangarajya is NOT COMING BACK - we have YOUVA RAJYA!!!
Let's progress on all fronts - Industry, commerce, Technology and communication - India will be World leader on all of the above with Congress and other like minded politicians. Lets elect YOUNG
    Talented Intellectuals and Non-corrupt leaders.

Things do not happen as we dream, but they happen the way they are destined to happen. After 75, all live on borrowed time and the time is an ex gratia bonus awarded to us. We have only one life to live, hence, try to focus your attention on the things that are important as taught to us in religious books.

If JD(S)-Congress government collapses and re election are necessary BJP should be held accountable. The BJP central command are desperately trying hard to bring this government at all means, in order to held reelection with center.
This is the reason India need urgency strengthening' anti-defection laws' which last saw amendment in 1985. If one read through the clause it is moulded in such a way to help the political parties rather than the voters.
I would request the common citizens of India to draft a law and file PIL in Supreme Court in this regard.
India can't afford repeated elections when our soldiers are made to pay for their own uniforms, players one third income in Haryana should go the government or farmers can't get minimum support price for their crops.
I request Association of Democratic Right to file PIL and RTI in this regard.
Save our democracy before it drowns the citizens of India with burden.
    Jai Hind

This kind of claims Yeddy the Chaddi has made prior to elections to Vidhana Sabha and after elections that he will prove majority on the floor of the house.

You said 100 percent you will prove majority on the floor of the house within 15 days time.

YOUR SPAN OF TIME TO PROVE MAJORITY WAS CUT DOWN BY THE SUPREME COURT FOR 48 HOURS.

    YOU FAILED MISERABLY.

After your Blah, Blah, Blah Bhassahans on the floor of the house without proving majority, without singing National Anthem Yeddy, you ran away LIKE A COWARD from the floor of the house unable to prove majority on the floor of the house.

YOU HAVE SUPPORTED CHURCH ATTACKS AND YOU WILL NEVER BE A CHIEF MINISTER OF KARNATAKA IN YOUR LIFE TIME.

BETTER RETIRE AND TAKE REST IN THE COORG ESTATE.
