Rahul Gandhi meets disgruntled Karnataka Congress MLAs, talks inconclusive

New Delhi, Jun 9 (PTI): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday met disgruntled Karnataka MLAs led by MB Patil in the national capital but talks remained inconclusive.

After the meeting, Patil said the next plan of action will be decided after discussions with the 15-20 MLAs, who are unhappy with the cabinet expansion. He, however, asserted that he has no plans to quit the Congress.

Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Dinesh Gundu Rao and new cabinet minister Krishna Byre Gowda were present in the meeting.

“We are trying to resolve the differences. The process is on at the moment. No decision has been taken yet,” Gowda told PTI after the meeting. The consultations are still going on with state leaders, he added.

Patil, who campaigned for a minority status for Lingayats, is a prominent state Congress leader. Under his leadership, a section of dissatisfied legislators have held several meetings last week.

After meeting the Congress President, Patil said: “I shared my views with Rahul Gandhi and explained the state’s situation. I have not demanded anything.”

He said, “I am not alone, many friends are together with me. I will share with them what happened in the meeting and then decide next plan of action.”

Patil, a former irrigation minister and an MLA from Vijayapura district, said he has no plans to quit the party. “The BJP has not approached me nor I have got in touch with them. My fight is within the Congress,” he said.

He also mentioned that he is not in the race for the KPCC president’s post and did not make that demand in the meeting.

The JD(S)-Congress cabinet was expanded on June 6 with the induction of 25 new ministers, after intense bargaining for ministerial berths.

The much-awaited exercise has caused heartburn among several lawmakers in the coalition while supporters of some of the ministerial aspirants staged protests.

Besides MB Patil and Dinesh Gundu Rao, the Congress has dropped several key members of the previous Siddaramaiah ministry, including Ramalinga Reddy, R Roshan Baig, HK Patil, Tanvir Sait, Shamanur Sivashankarappaand and Satish Jarkhiholi from the coalition government.

Its an expensive drama. Don't forget, its not free. We may pay again for the re-election expense if there is divorce in love story. So it is better we hope and give them a chance to reconcile and manage the show for 5 years.

    Exactly.
Siddaramaiah is a good puppeteer. He have many strings at fingertips and knows better what to pull and when with no collateral damage to himself. This great man who was instrumental for the befall of Congress in Karnataka is on the job of eliminating it from Karnataka....!

Its high time that Congress brings out better Leaders. RG should give the platform to other Best seniors, like Shashi Taroor etc and he can support them as President of Congress. This will definitely bring a big face lift to the party. There are many dynamic young leaders who do not get a chance. These must be brought to the front for all round success, i.e. from winning to deliverying every promise in full. Jai Hind.

Pappu on the other hand cannot understand what is said clearly.
So what must have transpired is anybody's guess.
Has Pappu solved any problem in his life thus far and this includes school maths also.

The rebellion has gathered steam. Many leaders are protesting in Gadag as well, including our own Ivan Dsouza. So its not a matter of joke. The Congress leader have to act fast and ensure their leaders are satisfied. Just imagine working day and night for the party canvassing and campaigning. and then winning. After winning, then being shunted from Resort to resort in a bus and then flown to Delhi. And on return eventually being sidelined, just to ensure that a political ambition of a selfish leader is alive.
Its not right. I agree with Mr, Patil on this.

Boss, Ask RG &SG why did they approach JDS with an unconditional support. HDK did to go to Congress. JDS was better in the opposition. It was under the insistence of the Congress that the coalition was agreed. The Congress lost everywhere in their strong holds as well. The numero uno CM was sent on a leather hunt in his own home constituency. The Cong should thank JDS for giving them a lease of life and sit tight.

With the public mood going against the BJP across the country, it would be better for these MLA's from the Congress to shun their ministral ambitions and work to free South India of all Divisive forces in the General Elections in 2109.

Had pappu opted to sit in the opposition Cong would have earned lots of respect and still be a strong contender for 2019. This is riddicullous. Playing a side hero to 3rd place JDS unconditionally. Listening to their whims and fancies day in day out. This reflects how a coalition would act in 2019 . They have scored a big self goal. If this combo breaks, then its bonus points to Amitshah. The BJP has left Cong to dig their own grave in Ktaka.

karnataka Cong leaders are way better than vinci in this matter.

You still didn't answer why Vinci is not able to solve this issue?
This is not coastal Karnataka we are talking About.
We are talking about areas where JDS fought with Cong .
Now you are asking them to forget it and come together.
Why? To stop BJP? Fact is Bjp was never strong there.so why will they want to stop BJP?
