Udupi: No Iftar get-together at Sri Krishna Math this time, says Pejawar Swamiji

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Jun 10: There will be no Iftar get-together at Udupi's world-famous Sri Krishna Math this time, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math has said.

He was speaking to reporters on Saturday June 9 at Krishna Kalyana Mantapa in Tumakuru on the sidelines of a district-level conference of Madhwa Brahmins.

"We had organised Iftar get-together last year. However, this time I am on a tour of the state and hence it would not be possible to organise it. Also, Muslims themselves have not shown interest in organising Iftar at Krishna Math. Last year's enthusiasm is missing this time.

"Some of the Muslims still have the false notion that last year the Iftar was organised in the room where God's idols are kept. But the truth is Iftar was held in the adjoining room where there was no idol. Therefore, Muslims are not too interested in another Iftar at the Math," he said.

The Iftar get-together organised at Sri Krishna Math had evoked mixed response, with many appreciating Pejawar Swamiji's gesture and others criticising him. Hardliners like Pramod Muthalik of Sri Rama Sene had termed it an 'insult', but the Swamiji had stood by his action. Some days ago, the Swamiji had said that he would willing to organise Iftar this time too if the Muslims came forward.

Respected swamiji, we welcome your decision in personal interest. If 'Iftar' is the sole reason to bridge the unity of this nation it can be done anywhere.
Since Sri Krishna Math is unable to organise this years 'Iftar' due to the confusion or pressure from the vested interest, If is will be Muslim pleasure to invite you to be guest on your route to stop in any Mosque of your desire or according to your convenience for few minutes to spend with the community.

Muslims cordially welcome you for the remaining days of this years fasting month, your presence and gratitude will be highly appreciated.
We the citizens of India is waiting for your response.

Good suggestion. this is welcome step. I always believed, muslims should reciprocate in similar manner. it will be great time to have our idols in Mosque and be prayed to, an aarati and rest of the rituals, just like how muslims were allowed to practice their ritual inside a matha.

I would insist, all mosques to keep a Ganapti in next season of festivals and invite indian Hindu brothers. too.

once hindus went to Babari uninvited and it created a big rift - for keeping a ramlalla idol. this time, let us do on your invite,
    thanks
    a Hindu

Iftar was a personal thing for Muslim for so many years during the month of Ramadan. People politicized it . Celebrate Eid, Hindu festivals. christian festivals together .Don't use them to make a divide. Else each religion celebrate it their own ways.

Religion was a personal issue of the individual or community for many years. People of different religions made it as a show off to popularize it. Built big Churches, Mosques, Temples, Halls, Marriage pandals and lost the sanctity of religious places. In competition with each other we lost the essence of religion and god .From Suras they become Asuras

Mohammed, Kundapur/Qatar : Bhai, do you have any DOUBT????? Definitely, since last year's Iftar, Swamiji is living under tremendous pressure and secondly Swamiji is on tour since last couple of days , where as Holy month was started on 16th May!!!!! Thirdly, Feku & DAKU are Ram Bakhts only for Minting money, otherwise they are the Real Ravans not even the decedents!!!!!!, if one put together the Crimes, Kidnaps Rapes and Lynchings were took place during last four years and instead of punishing the culprits they were set free and awarded with government jobs!!!! They even don't spare the Swamiji because they are the actual RAVANS!!!!!!

Muslims believe in Oneness of God. We cannot compromise in our faith for the sake of organizing a function. Further, it is not allowed to celebrate birth days in Islam.

We the people of all religion can absolutely live in harmony without compromising on issues related to faith.
