Beltangady: Miscreants Strike Again - Window Shield of Idol in Murje Church Shattered

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Beltangady, Sep 19: At a time when the district is struggling to return to normalcy, trouble mongers raised their ugly heads again, in the wee hours on Friday September 19. Motor bike-born vandals, who came to the St Xavier Church of Murje under Beltangady diocese near here, at about 2.30 am, threw stones and shattered the glass shields provided to the idol of Infant Jesus, located outside the church hall.

It is a paradox that Catholic and Hindu leaders had agreed for amicable settlement of the entire issue and issued a joint press statement that they will respect each other and will not cross the prescribed boundaries. But miscreants have proved that they are bent on creating misunderstanding between the two communities.

As there has been a jurisdictional confusion between two police stations over who has to provide security to the church, the police shirked from the responsibility of posting its men there, in spite of receiving instructions for the same. Members of the church committee were guarding the premises, when they heard the sound of the stone-pelting. Immediately they came out and switched on the light. It is said that the miscreants disappeared from the scene immediately. It is also gathered that the idol has not been damaged in the attack. The culprits could not be identified.

Based on a complaint filed by Fr Thomas Kanniagal of the church, the Venur police visited the place and conducted spot inspection. Sub-inspector of police Manju is investigating.

Artice 355 has been invoked. Just wait my friends as to how the state of Karnataka reacts. Lets see for how long these cowards get that long leash. Ram Sena and Bajrang dal. The warriors for Lord Ram. I feel Lord Ram is now watching these fools before he picks his bow and sends them to hell once and for all. He must be really disgusted and in rage at the way these scoundrels are going about destroying his good name.

The time has come that we have to protect our churches ourselves. No one will protect us.

We have been greatly releived to note that, our peace committe- community leaders have done their home work. Now, it is utterly disgusting and shocking to hear that, the crime is still continuing. There have been strong rumours going on that, the person who stole the Mother Mary statue in Bondel, a place called pachinadka, has been paralysed and hospitalized. Whether it is a rumour or fact, the naked truth is " As you sow, so as you reap". The group or person who did this ugly act should be ashamed of themselves/himself and repent and apologize. It is a cowardly act, which was committed 2.00 a.m. morning in the wee hours. Genglemen, it is a high time for our youth to awaken and keep a vigil on these goons.
