Dubai,  Sep. 20:  Alumnae and Alumni of St Agnes College and St. Aloysius College in UAE held their first meeting in Dubai to prepare for the forthcoming Get-together to be held in 2009.

The Agnesians and Aloysians met to discuss the future strategy and planning to hold the much awaited gathering, which is held once in two years in the UAE.  The last meet was held in February 2007 at Al Jazira Resort and was a huge success.

The meeting commenced with a prayer and welcome speech by Shobha Mendonca, followed by a silent prayer as a tribute to Suchita Moras – an active member of the committee who passed away recently in tragic circumstances.  The committee expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.  Aboline D’Cunha read out the message on behalf of the committee.

The outgoing Aloysian and Agnesian Chairpersons Johnson Samuel and Marissa Lobo thanked the committee for their support during the 2007 event and solicited the same  support from the members to the new Chairpersons.

During the meeting Sydney Victor D’Souza and Geanette D’Souza were unanimously elected as Chairpersons for both Aloysian and Agnesians for the forthcoming event  to be held in February 2009.

A brief discussion was held in various aspects and certain decisions were taken and initial key tasks were assigned to the members.

Jerome Periera the man who wasresponsible to start the Alumni gatherings in the UAE proposed the  vote of thanks.

The Committee has appealed to old students to come up with any suggestions and ideas to make the function a huge success.

The organizers have also requested that if there are any new comers to the UAE from both these institutions and want to be registered in the Alumni data base, may send  their details, i.e.,  Name,  Insitution (Agnesian or Aloysian), Course undertaken, Year of Passing out, Address in UAE and contact details (P. O. Box, Telephone and Email ID)  also the alumni/alumnae may send their suggestions or any new ideas to the following email address agaloy@gmail.com.

Further details on this event will be published on this portal from time to time.
