Puttur, Jun 13: A complaint has been filed in Uppinangadi police station about a theft that took place in Our Lady, Virgin of the Poor Church, Uppinangadi.
Oswald Pinto, member of the parish council of the church, said in his complaint that when he reached the church premises in the morning, he found that the lock of the main door of the church had been broken open. Further verification revealed that all the closets in the church had been opened and four donation boxes were broken open and cash found in them were taken away by unknown thieves. The estimated amount of stolen cash has been put at Rs 10,000.
A verification of the CCTV footage revealed the thieves wearing helmets entering the church premises with lethal arms in hand.

Oswald Pinto has requested the police to probe the complaint, detect the culprits, bring them to book and recover the stolen assets.
