Bahrain: DK Muslim Welfare Association Holds Iftar Party

Bahrain, Sep 21: An Iftar get-together was organised by Dakshina Kannada Muslim Welfare Association, Bahrain on Friday, 19th September 2008 at Anarath Banquet Hall, Hoora.  About 250 Muslim men and women together with other community members attended the Iftar meal.

K.S. Abdul Razak Sulaiman, President of the Association welcomed the gathering before breaking the fast.

The Association was established in the year 1992 by a small group of DK Muslims with an aim of welfare and providing support to Muslim brethren in Bahrain.  The names of the founding members are as follows:

Presently the association has 300 active members.  Their main aim is to create communal harmony amongst Indians.  The association is extending assistance to poor Muslim children in the rural areas of DK.  They also provide sponsorship to children in Engineering as well as Medical fields. The Association also shoulders the marriage expenses of needy Muslim girls and provides medical aid to less-privileged Muslim families of DK.

Apart from this, the Association also extending financial help to their members in Bahrain for any kind of emergencies.  They have also set aside a budget for sending human remains to India and also assist with the funeral arrangements in Bahrain or back home.
