Bengaluru, Jun 15: Minister Rajashekhar Patil, who has been given muzrai portfolio, clarified that there is no proposal to bring Maths under the jurisdiction of his department. He further stated that the government will not interfere in the matter of Maths.
"On an average, income amounting to Rs 700 to 800 crore is earned out of muzrai temples in the state every year. It has been decided to use this amount for the development of these temples. Moreover, income from 'A' category temples is proposed to be utilized for the development of 'C' category temples falling within its jurisdiction," he explained.
Patil, who also is the minister for mines and geology department, stated that private companies are being permitted to import sand from abroad in view of shortage of sand encountered in the state.
There is information that Rajashekhar, who has been given additional charge of muzrai department, has decided to surrender this department to the chief minister.
