Bengaluru, Jun 19: President of BJP Karnataka Backward Classes Morcha, B J Puttaswamy, resigned from his post, frustrated at his failure to secure party's nomination to the post of the member of legislative council.
"I have the satisfaction of ably discharging responsibilities entrusted to me by the party so far. I worked for the entire gamut of backward classes without confining myself to any specific class. I efficiently organized the Morcha and successfully held conventions. Even when I was made the minister, I worked hard within a short time that was available to me. Still, I fail to understand as per which yardstick I failed to get nominated to the post of MLC. Not only me, even the people of the state have failed to assimilate this decision," he stated.
Puttaswamy said he is not a dissident but his name has been added to this list. He insisted that he will never be in support of dissidents or dissatisfied leaders. "I do not know why my role in active politics was suddenly cut short during the final phase of my political life. I am thankful to everyone who has extended support to me so far. I have sent in my resignation to state BJP president, B S Yeddyurappa, with a request to accept the same with immediate affect.I never yearned for selfish ends," he stated.
He told Yeddyurappa that the media had projected him as a close confidante of the latter and that he has always mainatined the decorum of that status. He added that he is feeling that his hard work, commitment, trust, and supports in the face of danger to life have been defeated and therefore, he decided to resign.
