Dehradun: 2 missionaries Found Murdered

PTI

Dehradun, Sep 22: Sixty-year-old Father Samuel and Sister Mercy, 35, were found dead in separate rooms at their ashram "Samarpanalaya" at Chhota Rampur, police said.

Preliminary investigations showed both were strangulated, they said adding their bodies had been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of the death.

The bodies, tied with ropes, were found by a watchman of the hermitage who immediately informed police.

All the belongings in the two rooms were found scattered, police said adding this might have been done to mislead investigators.

Father Samuel alias Swami Aste, who hails from Meerut, was living in the ashram for the past 20 years. Sister Mercy was from Delhi.

Senior police officers visited the scene and were supervising investigations.

The Congress condemned the attack and asked the Centre to take action against the BJP government in Uttarakhand.

The Centre recently issued advisories to Karnataka and Orissa governments under article 355 in the wake of attacks on Christians and churches in the two states.

God has his own ways to deal with things like these. Lets forgive those who did all this and pray for both souls to rest in peace. Signs that there are tough times ahead.

Dear Sunil Dubai, Do you have any doubt that BJP has not done this. Are you talking of your family. in the olden days the saying used to be that if you did anything wrong your next generation would bear the after effects, but now it does not take much time.

You can see the result of the crimes being paid in good measure and in abundance. The reward will be great and this will show up even if BJP does not come up and Own up like Bajarang Dal Did in Mangalore. Where will they escape the reward for their actions.... It is better that we become Human and try and not to call upon the generation (not next generation) the reward befitting the crimes and the cry of the blood of the People in anguish and agony. It has nothing to do with PARTY OR POLITICS THAT WE WANT TO PLAY HERE IN THE SHORT TIME THAT WE HAVE. Ask for blessings and not for the cry of the life (lives) in danger....

It is very Sad to read that our own Preist and Sister in Christ has been martyred for spreading love and forgiveness. They are saved as written in scripture" Everyone will hate you because of me. But whoever holds out to the end will be saved"(Mark 13:13). The day is not far away when the same persecutors will transform to preachers of word of God as witnessed in case of The Great Saint Paul.

I pray for this to happen soon.We in Dubai are reciting Rosary and Divine mecry prayers daily for Our Christian brothers in Orrisa , Mangalore, Bangalore and now U.P. Our God is living God and our prayers will be answered soon. Let peace of Christ be with all.

Friends, Thank you all for your support. My Chacha Fr Samuel truly led the life of Christ. He dedicated his life for the poor and needy. God had blessed him healing powers and he used it to cure countless people with incurable diseases. And this is what he got in return. He had left all world things and was living life of a true 'sadhu'.

I had lived with my Chacha in the Ashram and there was nothing of monetary value there. Nothing at all. So I am convinced that it was a planed murder. And the police claims that it was ‘robbery gone wrong’. My chacha hands and legs were tied up which shows that the murderers came with ropes and it was planed. If they were robbers, my chacha would have will fully asked them to take everything they wanted. I ask the extremists can they produce from among themselves a person like Fr Samuel. They can't.

We, in an alien land in the north need your prayers dear friends, not for the safety of our lives but that we may continue living to do Christ's work with a true missionary zeal. If a priest of who was basically from Meerut itself could be murdered then it needs more courage for the sons and daughters of Konkani to live in this unpredictable country.

There is a limit to religious competition. The real behind-the- scenes groups in these crimes are those who fail to take care of the destitutes among them, but when others do it they try to stop them in this ghastly manner : 'Dog-in-the-manger' policy or religious jealousy ? Either way, morbid and utterly deplorable !

Some people are creating hell on earth. All those who have served the society are killed by their own people. Christianity does not teach hatred, all those who served for the betterment of the society are killed mercilessly.

Take for instance Mahatma Gandhi, John F Kennedy and many other greats. Reason could be jealousy or for power, but will they be spared on the day of final judgment? May his departed soul rest in peace. Lord have mercy on us all.

Blaming one another will not do any good to us nor our country. Why can't people of the particular area where some org. or sonvstha or group comes to know that they are spreading the message of hatred against one another should come forward immediately and protest by non-violence and drive those people out from the area where they play mischief. Irrespective of caste, creed or religion the society as a whole unitedly come forward and put an end to these growing nuisances.

Everybody knows that politicians have no interest other than safeguarding self-interest and vote bank. It is we, the people suffer and therefore, we, the people should take initiative and stop the activities of spreding hatred and live like brothers and sisters. Only then we are safe in our own land.

It is very unfortunate that an innocent person was murdered. Innocent blood will always cry for Justice. I am confident that God will do Justice. I feel the proverb "VINASHAKALA VIPAREETHA BUDHI" applies to the religeous fanatics as their time has come for self destruction.
