Mangaluru, Jun 21: B Ramachandra Baliga, the father of slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga, passed away here on the night of Thursday June 21. He was 87.
Baliga was suffering from old age-related ailments and breathed his last at around 8 pm.
Ramachandra Baliga had been fighting for justice for his RTI activist son who was brutaly murdered on March 21, 2016. He had approached the highest court of the land for justice and did not live to see it delivered. His predeceased wife had passed away last year.
The bereaved family has four daughters now. Shwetha, the eldest who has two grown up children. Usha, the next one is married and stays at Mumbai. The two younger dauthers Anuradha and Harsha are unmarried and are continuing the battles for justice that their brother had started and also justice for him.
The cremation will be at Boloor crematorium and the last rites will be performed at his residence near PVS Kala Kunj at 10 am on Friday June 22, said rationalist Prof Narendra Nayak.
Prof Narendra Nayak in a press note said that Ramachandra Baliga had been pining for his son during his period of illness and was even hallucinating about him, calling out his name in delirium.
