Mangaluru Jul 2: "Nalin Kumar Kateel is taking credit for development works undertaken by others and he is one of the most lethargic MPs," said former minister Ramanath Rai here on Monday July 2.

Addressing media persons Ramanath Rai said, “Nalin Kumar Kateel does not know how to take the responsibility. Instead he criticizes others for his mistakes. He is good at delivering provocative speeches which instigates violence and his achievements are totally nil. Recently Nalin Kumar Kateel blamed me, Abhayachandra Jain and Moideen Bava for the delay in Mangaluru - Sholapur road works. I could not understand this logic. If we go by his statement even Karkala MLA will also come under this list which he has left out."

He further said, "There are several problems related to this Mangaluru Sholapur road, especially the land acquisition. We have conducted three meetings in the presence of deputy commissioner to which MP Nalin Kumar Kateel failed to attend. During the meeting we have taken the confidence of the people and sorted out the issues that we faced while undertaking the road project,”

“We all know that newly built Lady Goshen Hospital which is coming up. MRPL will share the cost from their CSR funds. When Veerappa Moily was the petroleum minister, he was in the forefront to transfer the CSR funds of MRPL for the construction of Lady Goshen Hospital. Now MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is taking credit for the work. Even in the Shiradi Ghat Road, former minister Oscar Fernandes took up the initiative and sanctioned funds to upgrade the roads in the first phase,” he added.

"Few years ago Bellary was the hub of mining, due to which atmosphere of the district was spoiled. Water, air got completely contaminated and 60% of forest area was destroyed for mining. But today Bellary has become much more greener and this is the achievement of our government. BJP's achievement is road filled with potholes and contaminated water in Bellary,” added Rai.

Mayor Bhaskar Moily, MCC chief whip Shashidhar Hegde, Corporator Naveen D Souza, Ashok, Pratibha Kulai and others were present.

Nalin reacts

Meanwhile reacting to Rai’s statement, Nalin Kumar Kateel speaking to media persons, said, “People have shown in the last election that who is lethargic and people have sent him to forest. I don’t pay heed to his statement. His achievement is only saying that he was the minister for 30 years. People, who do not have work, make such statement. Rai thinks that he knows everything.”
