Bengaluru, Jul 4: Three accused plead guilty in the 2010 Chinnaswamy Stadium blast, that left 15 people injured. Of the 14 people who are accused in the blast, Gowhar Aziz Khomani, Kamaal Hasan and Mohammed Kafeel Akthar filed an affidavit before the special court in Bengaluru pleading guilty on Wednesday, July 4.
The court asked the defence advocate if he has explained the consequences and he replied affirmative, advocate D S Sudhanva who is assisting prosecution told media.
The special judge Siddalinga Prabhu who is trying cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act asked the accused to meet him separately and questioned if they pleaded guilty under duress. This is a new development, said Sudhanva.
The case has been posted for hearing quantum of punishment on July 9. However there would be another round of argument.
The three accused hail from Bihar. They had harboured the terrorists, conspired to plant bombs and were part of the whole conspiracy.
The prime accused in the case Yasin Bhatkal is lodged at Tihar. Another accused Mohammed Qateel Siddiqui was lynched by the inmates of Yerwada Jail, Pune.
Of the 14 accused, seven are arrested while others are absconding.
