Bantwal: Murder attempt on man by four - one arrested

Bantwal, Jul 5: Relating to the murder attempt made on a man from Balthila village near here on July 3, the police have arrested one of the accused. The arrest was made on the basis of complaint filed by Chandraprabha (24), daughter of Kantappa Poojary, resident of Kudrebettu, Balthila village.

Chandraprabha claimed that when her father, Kantappa, was alone at his home at 5.30 pm on Tuesday July 3, Yathiraj, a person known to her, along with three other young men, formed illegal assembly with the specific aim of murdering Kantappa, and attacked him with lethal weapons. When the complainant tried to stop them, she sustained injuries to her forehead, head, and leg. The accused then fled along with the arms they had brought with them, she stated.

On the basis of this complaint, a case was registered in the town police station here under different sections of Indian penal code and section 2 A (b) of Karnataka Prevention and Destruction and Loss of Property Act.

The person arrested in this connection has been identified as Yathiraj, son of Anand Naik, resident of Kudrebettu, Balthila village. The arrest was executed by police sub-inspector of the town station here, Chandrashekhar H V, another police sub-inspector of this station, Harish M R, and other personnel of this station. On being produced in the court, the court remanded him to judicial custody, it is gathered.
