All temples under govt have silently increased the prices of all poojas to generate more revenue. A poor person can't even visit temples and offer pooja nowadays. In the race to become more secular, nobody talks about this.

Subramanya Temple is not situated in Northern India.... It is after Puttur, Dakshina kannada.... and many people including poor ( as you highlighted ) visit here during Naga Panchami and offer prayers etc... Lots of KSRTC and Private bus are available...

As to cost of pooja is concerned it is not too much and any poor man could afford to pay the same now a days... It is done once a year or life time and not compulsory ... just visit and pray with some flowers and kanike of Rs. 5.25 .. GOD will really bless us... Ashlesha bali is normlly done by a family for any major drawback in health and other issues based on some prediction from horoscope... Not complusory.... please.... Spending in Hotels/Tours/Cinema/Shopping/Junk food etc. is not counted at all.... only while offering prayers... Why ? GOD does not ask us to give money or Gold..
