Mangaluru: M P Nalin sets January deadline for Pumpwell, Thokkottu over-bridges

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jul 6: "National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) should assure that over-bridges at Pumpwell and Thokkottu would be completed by January next year, and an affidavit should be filed by the department before July 15. If this is not done, toll charges collection at Talapady tollgate would be stopped with effect from July 16," warned Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel.

He was speaking after inspecting national highway four-laning work in progress at Thokkottu, Talapady, Pumpwell, Nanthoor, Kottara and Suratkal on Thursday July 5. He was accompanied by officials of NHAI and Navayuga infrastructure, which is executing this contract.

Nalin noted that it has been eight years since over-bridge work began at Thokkottu and Pumpwell and that repeated extension of time given to contracting firm has not got desired result. He warned that no more time would be given to the concerned to further delay the works. He instructed the officials to provide proper drainage on both sides of the highway, desilt the drains, install road signs, construct service road before the over-bridge, and to repair drains at Kottara Chowki and Suratkal. He asked chief engineer, Ravikumar, to lay service road and footpath near Talapady tollgate, and service road at Uchila.

Nalin said that local vehicles moving from Pumpwell and Thokkottu should be exempted from collection of toll charges and not to collect toll charges from local vehicles till the place where over-bridge is being constructed.

NHAI officer, Ajit, leaders like Santosh Boliyar, Satish Kumpala, and Lalita Sunder Thokkottu were present.

Like BJP 'Acche Din', Mangalore MP Nalin projected January is no years. In 2014 citizens of India thought 'Acche Din' is immediate.
To date nobody knew which century this 'Aache Din' is going to fall.

BJP is ruling since 1991 for 25 straight years. It would have been 'smart city' long ago. But Mangaloreans prefer 'Hindutva' over 'Development'. MP Nalin is the people's representative for 9 years and BJP in ruling in Center.
In PM Modi's own constituency two under construction bridges has already collapsed. But PM Modi and his party habitually blaming the past ruling of Congress.
Now weight Jaunary for the 'Golden era'. Hope at least this bridges are available for first citizens 'cows' and pedestrians.

One of the useless MP.'s I have ever seen in D.K's past history.

    Just good for nothing.
I have nothing against in person. But he has never lived to be an M.P as expected by the voters who voted him in two terms.
He is neither educated and lacks diplomacy to get the works done. Only "Showgiri" to remain in headlines. That's all.
Bhakts anyway foolish and their supporting leader(M.P) more foolish.
    God save our country.

Citizen of Mangalore are under wrong impression that the flyover will do miracles and all traffic vows will get solved. Unfortunately the way it is designed, only the true traffic on National Highway will be eased. All vehicles coming from or going towards Kankandy or towards Padil will have to go through the good old system of having to wait for signal

Is this a site visit by MP Nalin Kumar and NHAI and Navyug Construction Company for Flyover construction? This type of meetings should be accompanied by Approved Drawings, Bar Schedule etc, Site uniforms,Safety etc. First of all discussion should be on site with drawings .Where is the drawings to discuss? Looks like a show-off site meeting. Here just they are talking walking with the site and agreeing with What's called BAI MATHU in olden days. They have no responsibility on any projects. Just for news sake. Why the Affidavit is executed so late after so many years? Not professional at all.

I don't know how far it is true that the trucks are not passing because of the height is little low. And they want to dig the ground.for lower passing. If it is done in a hurry burry then surely some danger we are inviting.

Think an end should be put to this nonsense which has grabbed international
    Headlines.
Only 4 workers are seen working on this project.
Looks like time pass project from all angles.
    Do you know that
Nav Yug belongs to the famous Reddy clan and now defunct?
    This is all eyewash
Unless and until some steps are taken on war footing this project is doomed.
The Reddys here care two hoots for black listings. They are A class apart in doing
    anything untoward.
The officers and representatives should not lie and give a correct picture to the
    Public and end this nonsense.

When this MP has no authority to control the outcome, why should he blabber and try to please people by giving deadlines. If he had the power to issue deadline, he could have done so few years back. Just for showing to people that his deadline has produced results is only a political stunt.
People know how much of his commitments are worth any value. Just the other day he gave a deadline of 5th July for completion of Shiradi Ghat road assuming that it would be ready by then and he would take the credit. Unfortunately contractors being what they are, things did not work out the way he thought they would.
Instead the MP should concentrate on solving people's issues which are directly under his control.
