Kasargod, Jul 6: BJP Kasargod and Vidhana Sabha constituency committee protested in Ukkinadka on Thursday, July 5 against delay in proposed construction of a medical college here.
The unique protests were held in Ukkinadka by making a cowshed in the place reserved for the construction of the college and tying the cattle in it. Many BJP activists took part in the protest.
BJP district president Srikanth inaugurated the protest. He said that LDF and UDF parties in Kerala have neglected Kasargod. “The foundation stone for the medical college was laid four years ago, but its construction has not yet started. Patients in Kasargod depend on distant Mangaluru. The silence of MLA and MP in the district has disappointed people. Violent protests will be held if the government does not come forward for the construction,” he warned.
BJP Manjeshwar Vidhana Sabha constituency president K Sathishchandra Bhandary presided. State vice president Pramila C Naik, P Suresh Kumar Shetty, Ravish Tantri Kuntaru, M Sanjeeva Shetty, advocate B Balakrishna Shetty, M P Ramappa, K Sadananda Rai, M Janani, Pushpa Ammekkala, Malati Suresh, Roopavani R Bhat, Shailaja Bhat, K G Manohar, Sudhama Gosada, Chandu Master, Sukumar Kudrepadi, M K Kayyar, Sumith Raj and others were present.
Oommen Chandy, the then chief minister had laid foundation for medical college in Perla, Ukkinadka in 2013. The work has not started even after five years. Academic building construction has started but not completed. The work is getting delayed due to several technical reasons. BJP has taken up leadership of protests now.
