Mangaluru: Former SAC vice-principal Fr Lawrence Castelino passed away

Mangaluru, Jul 6: Fr Lawrence Castelino passed away at Fatima Retreat House in city on Friday, July 6.

He was 78.

He was the former principal of St Aloysius Evening College and Vice Principal of St Aloysius College in city.

He was hailed as a strict disciplinarian, charismatic preacher and a compassionate Jesuit priest.

 

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 7 at 10 am at Fatima Retreat House followed by burial at the Jesuit Cemetery, Jeppu.

    He was a very good priest as well as my hostel warden from ‘85 to ‘87 . Though he was strict, he was good at heart to sign my leave note. May his soul Rest In peace.

    Fr Castelino was one of a kind. He was always natural and did not pretend. He never ever had feelings of vengeance nor did he harbour ill feelings towards others. He was very innocent at heart, genuine human being even when he was strict in his approach. May his soul rest in Peace.

    Rev.Fr. Lawrence Casrelino, was the rector of SAC, when I studied in college in the 80. I remember him as s very good person, kind hearted and good councillor. Later he was a good family friend, Eternal peace grant him, dear Lord. May his soul rest in peace.

    RIP Fr Lawrence Castelino. He was Vice Principal when I studied in SAC. Very energetic. Every evening we could see him playing with students. Though strict, he always had a soft corner..

    I was a fortunate student of his. His passion for every student to excel was simply unique. True disciplinarian and sincere to the core. One could not but talk about him each time one spoke about the St. Aloysius College of 80s and 90s. We will miss you dear father. Till we meet again RIP.
