Bengaluru: Krishna Reddy becomes deputy speaker of Assembly

Bengaluru, Jul 6: JD(S) MLA from Chintamani assembly constituency in Chikkaballapur district J K Krishna Reddy was elected as Deputy Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Friday, July 6.

As Krishna Reddy was the only candidate to file his nomination paper, he was chosen to the post unopposed.

Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar announced Krishna Reddy’s unanimous election as the deputy speaker of the Assembly.

The 51-year-old JD(S) leader was earlier elected to the Legislative Assembly when the BJP government ruled the State.

He was elected to the Lower House from Chintamani Assembly constituency in Chikkaballapur district by defeating M C Sudhakar, independent MLA, in the 2018 Assembly elections.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, leader of the Opposition B S Yeddyurappa, and several other legislators congratulated Krishna Reddy for his unanimous election to the post.
