Kuwait OCTOBER 1: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), one of the largest associations in Kuwait held annual picnic/ Family get together for its members and families on 1st October 2008 at Mishrif Garden.
With the timing of the picnic perfectly fitting with the Eid holidays and pleasant light humid climate, it was a day for the participants of the picnic to take the pleasure in the various sporting activities. The program was well arranged under the presidentship of Jossy Pinto Nantoor and with fluent and professional announcements and control from Rudy, Steven Machado, Mahesh Prabhu and other volunteers of KCWA.
The day started with welcome by President Jossy Pinto Nantoor and a delicious Mangalorean Idli- Vada breakfast served to all. The day was fully entertaining and sportive with many games for all the age catogories and enjoyed well by every one. Traditional games like Coconut breaking, Breaking the pot (Modki Phutaunchi), Volley Ball for men and Throw ball for women etc were also a part of the picnic. Various types of other games were segregated as per the age groups.
Fr. Melvyn – Parish Priest of Kuwait Cathedral was also present for the morning session and led the grace before meals. A typical Mangalorean cuisine prepared by M & M Confectionary was served for lunch. The afternoon sessions had more entertainment programs, music and dances. A quick game was conducted for the senior citizens above 60 years and all of them were honored with a gift and the prize was given out to the winner. Housie Housie was conducted for all the gathered and the amount collected were dedicated for the motto of KCWA which is education for needy at back home. The compeer’s Steven Machado, Mahesh Prabhu and Rudy D`Souza did an excellent job. In general it was a fully entertaining and fun filled day out.
