Mangaluru, Jul 19: Dakshina Kannada District Youth Janata Dal (Secular) held mass protest at Pumpwell here on Thursday, July 19, under the leadership of its district president, Akshit Suvarna, over Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers and unscientific roads.

Activists shouted slogans against the union government, national highway authority and district MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Akshit Suvarna said that the MP in the district is not doing any development work and cheating people with false promises. “National highway works are in progress for the last eight years and the work that is still not completed has caused pain and sufferings. Therefore, this MP should be rejected this time,” he said.

District president of JD(S) B Mohammed Kunhi Vitla said that several deaths have occurred due to the flyovers work and alleged that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and the union government is directly responsible for all the miseries.

District executive president Ram Ganesh, state leaders Gopalakrishna Attavar, Faizul, district leaders Sumati Hegde, Ramesh S, Sushil Noronha, Srinath Rai, Rathnaker Suvarna, Lathif, Iza, district yuva Janata dal chief secretary Madhusoodan Gowda, Mangaluru south yuva president Mohammed Razak, north president Rathish Karkera, district youth leaders Likhit Raj, Mohammed Asif, Hithesh Rai, Faizul, Bharath Hegde, Kishore Shetty, Sharif Puttur, Sathyanarayana, Kaleel, Kalander, Musapar, Kaladeep, Anish and Kaushik were present.
