London: 51-year-old Stella Vaz from Pangla dies in train accident in UK

London, Jul 20: A woman died in the United Kingdom due to train accident.

Stella Vaz (51) is the person deceased. She hailed from Shankarapura, Pangla of Udupi district.

Stella is survived by husband and two children. She is the daughter of Severine Gomes and late Charles Gomes and sister of Judith, Clotty, Lavina and Nilesh.

As per details available, Stella was hit by a train at south London on Wednesday, July 18. When the paramedics reached the station, Stella was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her identity could only be established on Thursday.

Stella was an active member of UK Konkans and participated in many Konkani activities.

Funeral will be held in UK.

It was a shocking and sad news. Even though, we hail from Parish (pangla), I met Stella first time on 14 November, 2004 in her residence in Croydon . That day, UK Konkans was born with handful families around. There are hardly any Mangalorean in London who is not known to Stella. Every gathering, she used introduce me as her 'Dattu' to her friends. She was a true catholic. If forgiving was her nature, helping people in need was her passion. Her untimely demise has left a huge void in our lives.
I pray to Almighty God to give strength to Melwin, Ewan, Eitan and her family to bear this loss.
May her soul rest in Eternal Peace

Very sad and shocked to hear that Stella passed away. I still remember our days in FMCI when we were Nursing students. A kind hearted,hard working, energetic,truly loving person is no more. She made us strong. Our Heartfelt condolences to Melwyn,kids and to the entire bereaved family. May God Almighty grant you all the strength to bear this great loss.Our prayers are with you. Stella will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace dear Stella.
