Mangaluru Jul 21: DCP - Crime and Traffic, Uma Prashanth, flagged off students' walkathon as part of traffic management and safety month, held at St Aloysius College on Saturday, July 21.
The department of commerce along with NCC unit of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized the walkathon.
The walkathon started at St Aloysius College and concluded at Forum Fiza Mall. Scores of students took part in this walkathon.
Road Safety month started on July 1 and will conclude on July 31. A variety of programmes related to the road safety are organised in several cities to enlighten people on maintaining road discipline, enhancing safety and following driving rules.
After the walkathon, Uma Prashanth inaugurated 'Traffic Toons' an exhibition of traffic awareness caricatures by 25 different cartoonists.
Speaking on the occasion, the DCP said," It’s good to see large number of students taking part in this walkathon to spread awareness on traffic rules to the public. These traffic caricatures spread a strong message on traffic awareness. I thank all cartoonists who contributed for the ‘Traffic Toons’ expo. I also urge students to wear helmets while driving
and follow the traffic rules".
