Bengaluru, Jul 23: It is learnt that Avinash Amarlal Kukreja, who is in the Income Tax (IT) net now after the sleuths of IT unearthed a huge haul of valuables amounting to nearly 550 crores, had bought a plush new apartment at Kingfisher Towers in UB City and was planning to shift his base there in August.
Lots of enthralling matters are being uncovered by the IT officials after a case against him was filed by the office-bearers of Bowring Institute. It was said earlier that Avinash is a native of Rajasthan. However, now it is confirmed that he belongs to a very powerful and well-known Sindhi community of the city and his forefathers hailed from Shikarpur in the Sindh province of Pakistan.
It is also gathered that Avinash, who is the son of financier Seth Assardas Amarlal, has invested money in numerous businesses like real estate, automobile, and private financing. According to reliable sources, the who’s who of the city, used to approach him when they needed financial support. Avinash used to provide private finance against the pledging of property as the surety.
He owns a tire showroom in the city, in addition to, owning a part of Padmanabha Rice Mills Pvt Ltd and Anushka Constructions Pvt Ltd. But he is mainly known as a financier and financial broker in the power corridors of the capital city.
According to IT sleuths, Avinash resides in Shanthinagar at present but was to move to his newly purchased apartment in UB City next month. He was also a partner in limited liability partnership (LLP)company by the name Vaishnavi Anushka Infrastructure.
It is learnt that the IT people had raided Avinash earlier in 2011 when they conducted searches in the city on a builder, who is native of Mangaluru. Now, it seems, Avinash has fallen into a bigger net of the IT department due to the recovery of the valuables from his locker in Bowring Institute.
The IT department has taken the help of a renowned jewellery chain of the city to assess the exact value of the confiscated gold ornaments. It is gathered that the said jewellers took more than four hours on each of the golden ornament in order to arrive at a definite value. As per sources each confiscated bangle had 25 diamonds on it.
Avinash's sister is the wife of a businessman from Hong Kong. The IT officials have recovered currency amounting to several crore in Hong Kong dollars from the lockers. The origin of this currency is also being investigated. It is said that guidance value of the properties, the related documents of which have been found in the lockers is worth more than Rs 700 crore.
In addition to Avinash, it seems the IT sleuths have hit upon important clue on their investigations that are being carried out on several prominent persons of Bengaluru as they have found crucial documents pertaining to these elite people in the locker that belonged to Avinash. This may be the reason why Avinash was repeatedly begging the office-bearers of the Bowring Institute to return the documents files.
