Mangaluru, Jul 23: Famous educationist Fr Alexander Lobo passed away on Monday, July 23 in city.
He was 84.
Fr Lobo was born in Derebail on 2 December 1933. He was ordained on 2 March 1959.
He had studied BSc B Ed. Later he obtained M A from Karnataka University, Dharwad.
Fr Lobo served as an assistant parish priest at Milagres parish, Kallianpur and then at Puttur as warden of St Philomena Educational Institutions. He served as assistant parish priest and headmaster of the high school at Kundapur for 7 years.
While he was at Balkunje he started the high school and while serving at Moodubelle he founded the junior college. He served at Rosario high school, Mangaluru for 9 years.
Throughout his life as teacher he was known as student-friendly man. He had helped numerous students with financial help when they could not afford education.
After his retirement from teaching service in 1991, he served as a parish priest at Madanthyar for a short term and served at Allipade for 7 years. He had also served as the parish priest of St John the Evangelist Church, Pangala.
Funeral will be held on 25 July 2018 at Valencia at 3.30 pm.
