Mangaluru, Jul 24: A city based lawyer has been booked for allegedly cheating a woman. She has accused him of promising her of marriage and raping her over four months.
According to the complaint filed by the victim, she had come in contact with the advocate named Ismail at his office at Regal Park in city seeking a solution for her divorce case a month ago.
The victim got married in 2017 and within three months her marital life ended. After filing for divorce her husband delayed to give compensation to her. In order to fight the case, she contacted advocate Ismail. Meanwhile, her husband deposited full amount in her bank account and avoided any legal action against him.
But as per the complaint, the advocate was in contact with her and for the past four months, he regularly called her to his office and molested her with a promise of marriage.
When she visited his office on July 20, the victim noticed that advocate was engaged in sexual act with another girl. When questioned, she was assaulted by Ismail due to which she suffered injuries on head and arms. When the victim threatened to tell her relatives about the assault he once again promised her of marriage. She alleged that from July 22 onwards, he has stopped responding to her calls.
The accused is reportedly absconding.
Based on victim’s complaint, Pandeshwar police have booked Ismail under sections under IPC 376, 323, and 417.
