Udupi: IGP visits Shiroor Math, undertakes scrutiny - liquor bottles reportedly found

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 25: On Tuesday July 24, western range inspector general of police (IGP), Arun Chakravarthy, visited the base Shiroor Math premises at Shiroor village, and its counterpart at Car Street in the city, and collected details of the ongoing investigation and progress achieved.

It is learnt that the police have taken several people into custody relating to the unnatural demise of Shiroor Math Swamiji, Sri Lakshmivara Theertha, and questioning them, although they are officially have not been providing any details.

After holding meeting at the office of the district superintendent of police during his visit, the IGP said that no one has been arrested so far and that five teams have been formed to investigate this case. He said that information will be conveyed once post mortem report is received. He also termed reports appearing in a section of newspapers, television channels and social websites as speculative. Even during his visit to Shiroor Math at Car Street here, the IGP preferred not to give out any details.

The police undertook search of rooms inside the Shiroor Math at Car Street with the help of torches. At the base Math too they undertook scrutiny for about 45 minutes. They also visited the site of 'Vanamahotvasa' programme, which happened to be the last of the public programmes where the Swamiji took part and had food.

The police appeared to be concentrating more on the base Math at Shiroor. It is said that on Monday night, the police found that a gunny bag containing unwanted items including liquor bottles which were tossed into an unused well in the compound. Some reports say that foreign made liquor bottles etc were also recovered during the search.

Although some sources claim that the missing digital video recorder has been traced, this information has not been confirmed by the police. There is information that the police, with the help of Venur police, took into custody a woman who was said to be very close to the deceased Swamiji, and subjected her to intensive questioning at a secret spot.

It is also being claimed that the son of a woman with whom the Swamiji was earlier involved, was also questioned by the police.

While Common man knows, the possible causes of his "murder" talking so much about liquor in this episode gives one the impression as though they found the real cause of his death.

Many people are working behind the scenes overtime to divert the issue just to protect themselves, as many skeletons may fall out of the cupboards relating to the whole issue.

Investigating only the death of the Seer will be an eye wash, if everything else is not being exposed in full and brought to the light.

here liquor is not da cause 4 shiroor's death. liquor will not kill a man immediately. slowly.........kills in da longer periods. doctors report - poison in his body- not liquor. liquor is not a poison.
