Mangaluru: Minority scholarship helpdesk launched at Infant Mary Campus Jeppu

Mangaluru Jul 27: The Minority Scholarship Helpdesk, an initiative of Young Christian Students (YCS)/Young Students Movement (YCM) of Mangaluru Diocese, in association with Spandana Trust (R), was inaugurated by Bishop-elect of Mangaluru diocese, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha at Infant Mary Campus, Jeppu on Thursday, July 26.

After a short prayer, the inauguration was done by opening the scholarship website.

Dr Peter Paul appreciated the initiative and gave a call to serve the needy with a loving heart. “It is worth to inscribe our name in the hearts of people by service than on the marble stones,” he said.



Sr Metilda Monteiro, provincial of sisters of charity, Mangaluru province, was the chief guest. Renowned entrepreneur Aloysius Pinto, CompuNet Systems proprietor Alphonse Crasta, animator at Infant Mary Campus Sr Marceline, in-charge of Spandana Trust Sr Helen attended the programme as guests of honour.

Fr Rupesh Madtha, the director, YCS/YSM Mangaluru, welcomed the dignitaries and YCS/YSM diocesan president Ashvia Anna Lasrado proposed vote of thanks.

YCS/YSM diocesan animator Prajwal Sequeira Derebail, diocesan coordinator Mervin Vas Ferar, diocesan secretary Jean Lobo Ashoknagar, joint secretary Einstein Pinto Bajal, Sr Evangeline, Sr Tulia, Sr Dorothy and others were present. Victor Vas Kulshekar, manager of Spandana Trust compeered the programme.

Helping students to apply for scholarship

The government minority scholarship helpdesk helps students from minority communities to upload scholarship applications. It will be open from August to October from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm in the week days except on Sundays at Infant Mary Campus in Jeppu, Mangaluru.

The Help Desk has served 600 students free of cost in the last academic year too.
Students who want to apply for the scholarship need to come equipped with documents such as Aadhar card, fee receipt from the college, bank passbook copy, income/caste certificate, previous years marks card, 2 photographs.

In case of renewal of scholarship, personal ID and password of previous year upload is needed.
