Kundapur, Jul 28: A man, who has been repeatedly harassing his sister here for money for some time, had stabbed her a few days ago. The victim succumbed to her injuries in the hospital on Saturday, July 28.
The deceased woman is Vijaya Bhandary(50) from near Kundeshwar temple, Kundapur. Her brother Annappa Bhandary ( 45),who is accused of murdering his sister, has been arrested by the police.
Details of the incident
Vijaya Bhandary, daughter of Sheena Bhandary was a spinster and was staying with her brother Annappa Bhandary in the same house. Annappa Bhandary, who ran a saloon near Sangam, used to always harass Vijaya Bhandary for money.
It is said that Annappa came home at 8.30 pm on July 22 and demanded her jewelry. As Vijaya refused to hand over her gold, Annappa Bhandary stabbed the shoulder and back of Vijaya with the knife found nearby.
Vijaya Bhandary was rushed to KMC hospital immediately after the deadly assault.
Annappa was arrested earlier and sent to Mangaluru prison on the charge of attempted murder.
Vijaya Bhandary died today without responding to treatment.
Kundapur police have now taken custody of the accused for murder.
