Bengaluru, Jul 30: A complaint against the statement made by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy opposing the demand for separate statehood for ‘North Karnataka’ has reached the Congress high command in New Delhi.
Part of Kumaraswamy’s statement said,”take away a separate state and let us see how you will manage the state.” This statement was taken as provocative and arrogant by many quarters. Some said that CM was partial saying he did not care about the people of North Karnataka.
Some Congress leaders from North Karnataka have opined that Kumaraswamy’s statement will come as a negative factor during the next Lok Sabha elections. They have warned the Congress high command that BJP is going to use this weapon against Congress and JD(S).
The leaders also conveyed their displeasure to Congress in-charge secretary K C Venugopal, KPCC chief Dinesh Gundu Rao and coordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah. They have asked these people to request Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to tell Kumaraswamy not to make such controversial statements.
Meanwhile BJP leaders from North Karnataka, Prahlad Joshi and Jagadish Shettar, have said that though their party does not support the demand for a separate state, they will definitely highlight the ‘injustice’ done to the northern part of the state by the present government.
