Mangaluru, Jul 30: The valedictory function of internship programme of 2018 organised by Marian Projects Pvt Ltd in association with 'Association of Consulting Civil Engineering (India) Mangaluru Centre was held on Monday, July 30. As many as 71 students successfully completed their internship.
Addressing the gathering, president of Lions Club Mangaluru and vice-president of south ACCEI, Vijaya Vishnu Mayya, said, "Learn to take challenges, take failures in your strides, believe in what you are doing and success will come to you in one or the other way. Just satisfy yourself and take practical knowledge. Learn from each and everything as each moment is a learning process throughout your life. Be a part of the organisation and do well to the society.”
Chairman ACCEI, Mangaluru Anil Sebastian D’Souza said, "Our association of consulting civil engineering used to concentrate only on officials and not about young budding engineers. Eight years back NITK faculty Babu Narayan initiated this internship program. We conduct all types of technical lectures to the students. Young budding engineers get to learn something new and gain knowledge related to civil engineering practically.”
Director of operations of Marian Projects Pvt Ltd, Ujwal D’ Souza said, "This programme is a platform for the young budding civil engineers to excel in their career. The experience and knowledge shared by the resource persons will help the students.”
The internship programme was conducted for the young budding civil engineers as per the requirement of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). This internship program was for 22 days with theory and practical lessons. As many as 71 students from 8 colleges namely St Joseph Engineering College, P A College of Engineering, Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Karavali Institute of Technology, Sahayadri College of Engineering & Management - All these colleges from in and around Mangaluru and AGMR College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad, Career Point University, Kota – Rajasthan, took part in this internship programme.
During this programme, several resource persons gave lectures on safety, project management, pile foundations, purchase functions, total station survey and many more. Professional and industry resource persons connected to the civil engineering profession delivered systematic and tailored sessions to the young minds taking them away from the hustle bustle of classroom theory sessions and exposing them to the world of practical civil engineering. Notable speakers were Anirudh Rao and Arun Prabha from M/S Projectile who gave an insight to project management and piling respectively, Sunil Stephen from Supreme Industries Limited spoke on plumbing and drainage systems, Suraj Kumar of Ramco Cements Ltd gave a brief knowledge of cement manufacture and latest trends, Ragavendra B S from Asian Paints Ltd explained water proofing and painting activities, Anil Baliga of M/S Manjeshwar Techno Trades addressed the crowd on production of RMC and retrofitting, Elvyn of M/S Grooves N Joints took the students on a practical demonstration of manufacture of modular furniture using the latest machinery and Sandeep Verma of Peri Formwork India shared his knowledge on latest formwork and scaffolding systems. The company's in-house resource team shared their practical knowledge on safety In construction sites, procurement and stores functions, use of total station in building construction, electrification, plumbing and maintenance of multi storied buildings, plant and machinery used in construction, as well as estimation, costing and rate analysis in building projects.
