New Delhi, Nov 22: Air India on Saturday announced that its codeshare agreement with Star Alliance partner Air Canada will be reinstated from December 2, 2025, significantly enhancing seamless travel options between India and Canada.
The renewed partnership will enable single-ticket travel and expanded connectivity, with Air India gaining access to six Canadian destinations beyond Vancouver and London Heathrow. As part of the agreement, Air India will place its ‘AI’ code on Air Canada-operated services from Vancouver to Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montréal and Halifax, as well as on flights from London Heathrow to Vancouver and Calgary.

In return, Air Canada passengers will enjoy smooth domestic connectivity across India, with access to flights to Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kochi via Delhi, and additional connections to Delhi and Mumbai through London Heathrow.
The arrangement allows travellers to book multi-segment itineraries under one ticket, while also benefiting from unified baggage policies. Frequent flyers of both airlines can continue to earn and redeem miles across the networks, and Air India’s Maharaja Club elite members will retain Star Alliance Gold perks on Air Canada flights, including lounge access, priority check-in and extra baggage limits.
“Over two million people travel between India and Canada every year. The reinstatement of our partnership with Air Canada eases journeys for thousands of them every day moving forward,” said Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India.
Codeshare flights will be rolled out for booking gradually through both airlines’ platforms and global travel agents, subject to regulatory approvals.
