Sullia: Son of daily wage labourer couple, now a chartered accountant

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Jul 30: Even if the parents struggle to make ends meet, they give utmost importance to the future of their offsprings. In an exemplary show of dedication and hard work, a son of a poor couple, who are daily wage labourers, has fulfilled their dream of making him educated and has cleared his Chartered Accountancy (CA) examination.

Sunil Kallaje, son of poor daily wage labourer couple Ramesh and Gauramma, is the worthy son who has made his parents proud.

Twenty-seven years ago, Ramesh-Gauramma couple, who went to several places in search of a job, finally settled down in Kallaje of Yenekallu village in the district of Dakshina Kannada. They joined as labourers in the farmland of Kushalappa Uppalige. Even now, they are residing in a rented house. Ramesh does the work of peeling the areca nuts. Gauramma used to work as a domestic servant. She has stopped going to work at the behest of her sons. The couple has two children. Elder one is Sunil, who has cleared CA examination now. Younger son Anil has completed his BBA from Subramanya college.

Sunil is planning to open his own practice in Bengaluru. He completed his primary education in Kallaje government school, high school and PUC in SSPU college in Subramanya and completed his BCom from KSS college. After completing his degree in commerce, he went to Bengaluru and joined for work with a chartered accountant of Udupi origin. He prepared for CA examination and articleship without any private coaching. He used to start his day at 4 am in the morning and read for 12 hours. When Sunil was studying, he was offered a part-time job by the owner of Anugraha lodge in Subramanya so that the financial burden of his studies will not affect his parents.

Sunil's parents, who were working as daily wage labourers for a living, had a noble thought that their children should not suffer like them. They should get a good education. Poverty should not affect them. So they give prime importance to education. Both the boys, who used to read till midnight, did not have the privilege of electricity. They studied under the light of Kerosene lamp. Their mother Gauramma used to be with them as a motivation and ensured that the kerosene lamp does not get extinguished.

"I will open my own office in Bengaluru with the help of a bank loan. I will hire my younger brother as an assistant in my office. Now our family is living in a rented house. I have to construct our own house in the future. I will be the support to my parents who have sacrificed so much for me and my brother. I have noticed the sacrifices done by my parents in abject poverty. It is my duty to repay their hard work and fulfil their dreams," says proud Sunil Kallaje.

Ramesh-Gauramma, parents of a proud son, Sunil, Congratulations to you and may the Almighty Lord bless you with good health and long life, to turn the page of your book called LIFE in to a joyful, healthy and with good rest, in the days to come. You parents are the role model in today"s world. Children learn the first lessons from their parents and this is what would be the result.

Sunil, you made your parents proud by working hard towards your dream. This shows the love, respect and understanding the hardships of your parents. May you be the role model for the present generation.

God bless this family and may there be more in the pipeline. God bless.

What a proud moment for Sunil and his family. We are not aware how much of intellectual and creative power is being lost in the society in the name of culture and religion. If this youth was indulging in communal strife, what would have been his future. How many youth will see him as an inspiration? Will our politicians encourage youth to study well and achieve something in life instead of engaging in anti-social activities. Our politicians will never tell the youth to shun goondagiri.
