Bengaluru, Jul 31: Karnataka chief minister (CM), H D Kumaraswamy, clarified that the government has waived farm loans totalling to Rs 49,000 crore in the state. He added that an official communication about this would be issued on behalf of the government within four to five days.

He said he is aware how can tax pilferages can be plugged and blamed the media for publishing false stories claiming that tax collection has fallen by a thousand crore rupees and thus misguiding people.

The meeting decided to disburse compensation. The officials were asked to provide actual reasons behind the suicides by individual farmers and take steps to disburse compensation to families of farmers ending lives without delay.

I work like there is no tomorrow, I have loans to pay, I have a family to feed, I have to save up for a lot of things, like kids education, marriage and over that I got to pay taxes. And then I bear the brunt of additional taxes on other commodities.

All the above things and I end up broke after 15th of each month.

The farmers get loans and subsidized rates which they (not all) in turn lend it for higher interest rates or deposit it in other banks for higher interests and then claim bankruptcy. Governments come and go and each of them waiver off these loans just to win elections.

Arent we the middle class, just bakras of the system ?? I am sorry, every poor man or woman is the creation of bad government policies. So it is the government that has to pay, not us. Dont load us with anymore taxes. The only issue with us we are the tax payers and we pay through our nose and keep mum about it.

The governments have stupid laws like tax saving investments. Arre where do we do tax saving investments, when we go broke by 15th each month ??

I cant even go for a decent drink with my friends, because then I get caught for drunk driving. Atleast the government should waive off drunk driving clause for us, so we can keep drinking to forget our middle class fate.. (on a lighter note)

Waiving farm loans of this magnitude is an unbearable burden on taxpayers as the money has to come out of their taxes - government does not earn money by itself.
Of course, farmers burdened with debt are entitled to relief because they feed the nation. However, a better way, in the way of crop insurance, must be found and implemented as is done in many countries where farmers have to rely on God Almighty for good rain and weather conditions to raise their produce.

CM Saheb, very good, rs. 49,000 Crores Loan Waiver. Whose money is it anyways.?? Like few comments above, this waiver amount will NOT reach actual beneficiaries, It gets filtered in the system and yet again another budget this issue will come up. So Farmers use this opportunity to take loan & not pay, but fight for waivers & Govt to please them n Vote Bank purpose will keep keep digging holes in to Tax Payers' Pockets. !!

So it is either big wigs who loot banks in a high profile style of taking loans n not repaying n flee / leave the country to escape to a safe haven or it is our own law makers, politicians who swindle Tax Payers' money in various manners.

We the Citizens suffer at these hands and we have no one to go to regarding this.

So our " Achchey Din " are slowly coming..!!

Water, electricity, all taxes increased for balancing the loan waiver. And this waiver will not reach the needy. Next year onward everyone will take loan and will not pay back thinking govt will do loan waiver. Finally it is the total collapse of system and everyone will suffer.
