Bengaluru, Aug 2: An organization of Kannada activists has filed complaint with the city traffic police here against Kannada 'Bigg Boss' fame Niveditha Gowda, who has courted controversy after accepting the dangerous Kiki dance challenge and posting a video of performing this dance on her Instagram account.
After a hue and cry was raised against setting this dangerous trend, she has removed the clip.
The organization said in its complaint that Niveditha Gowda, being a celebrity, should have exercised restraint and become a role model for the people in general. "Instead, by indulging in banned Kiki dance and uploading the video thereof in social website, she has instigated others to follow suit. Because of this, those who follow her in social website might indulge in this experiment and lose their lives. Such people also can give rise to chaos for the traffic. In this backdrop, legal action should be taken against her," the organization's office bearer, Nagesh, said in his complaint, which was delivered to senior traffic police officers.
At the same time, city police have issued stern warning to people against indulging in Kiki dance, of strict legal action, pointing out that this type of dance is forbidden.
Niveditha apologises
Niveditha on her part, shedding tears, pleaded with the concerned for letting the incident, which happened on account of her ignorance, to pass. "I did not perform this dance to challenge anyone. I just happened to watch global challenge in social media and did it myself. I will be very careful when using social media henceforth. I was not aware that Kiki dance had caused injuries and deaths. I immediately removed the video from my account as soon as I came to know that it was wrong. Therefore there is no question of people following me and indulging in this risky dance," she said.
