Byndoor: Hindu outfits bust cow theft racket, one person caught

Daijiworld Media Network - Byndoor (MS)

Byndoor, Aug 3: The activists of Hindu outfits have succeeded in busting the cow theft racket that was rampant in the taluk since quite some time and caught hold of a cow thief in the process.

Since some years, cows and buffalos in and around Nayakana Katte, Kambadakone, and Jogur of the taluk, were being stolen along with their ropes during the night. Villagers who were upset over these thefts planned to catch the cow thieves with the help of activists of Hindu outfits.

On the late night of Thursday, Aug 2, four teams of activists of Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagarana Vedike of the taluk were waiting, despite the heavy rain, at Nayakana Katte and Kambadakone. After midnight, at around 12.30 am, two cow thieves arrived in a pickup van. There were spotted leaving the place after stealing three cows at around 4 am. The activists, who chased the pickup, managed to catch one of the thieves and rescued the three cows from being taken for slaughter.

It is said that the cow thieves tried to run their pickup van over the activists thrice during the operation. However, the activists were undeterred and chased the cow stealers on the national highway via Byndoor - Shiroor route and apprehended one of them.

The rescued cows and the apprehended thief were handed over to the Byndoor police.

Police are on the lookout for the escaped cow thief.

Any theft of livestock which supports the family income is condemable. But the cow vigiaties by Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagarana Vedike is not acceptable as we have law enforcement officials in the newly formed Taluk of Byndoor.
There are more than five cases of 'lynching' in last month including Karnataka.

    1. If these organisation had definate leads about the cow theft why the law enforcement officials are not informed?
    2. Is Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagarana Vedike are the registered organisations under centeral Ministry of Home affairs to do the street patrolling day and night parllel to the law enforcement officials?
    3. The vechile plate number does not belongs to Udupi district. Does it mean district border patrol is open to the cow theft?
    4. Why there are no theft complaint by the owner of the livestock in the first cast which would have dither the thieves?

I request the District administration, Law enforcement officer and local MLA's considering the 'Lynching' cases reported around India these fanatic group patrolling the streets in unacceptable. This private cow vigilantism may lead to deaths, destruction or communal instigtion which is completly unacceptable and the authority will be held accountable.
It is the duty of the 'Law enforcement official'. We the citizens should have trust on their ability.

Both the government as well as people are jobless and running after cows.
Nobody cares about development, unemployment, corruption, absence of proper roads, bridges, footpaths and so on. Everyone talks about cows and beef and forget everything else. People are more worried about who will eat what, who worships whom, who marries whom and who wears what. It's a very sad state of affairs.
