Mangaluru: I am opposed to illegal activities – minister Khader

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 3: "There is no question of supporting illegal activities, irrespective of who is behind it. If it is illegal, law will take its own course," said Dakshina Kannada in-charge minister U T Khader on Thursday, August 2.

He was responding to allegation made by BJP spokesperson, Harikrishna Bantwal, about zilla panchayat member Padma Shekhar Jain operating illegal stone quarry and crusher inside the Kodyamale protected forest.

“This matter had not come to my notice. I am always opposed to illegal activities,” he added.

Work on national highway

About the delay in executing works on national highway 66, Khader said that the district administration has taken steps to file case against National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). "NHAI falls under the purview of central government. Therefore it is up to the Centre to bring pressure on authorities and get the work done. The MP of the district had given 15 days deadline in the past for completion of pending work, but it did not work. I am always in support of the MP in getting the work done at the earliest,” he claimed.
