Kundapur, Aug 4: A student, who was distressed at the fact that his family did not heed to his demand for a cellphone, committed suicide by hanging himself. This incident happened at Kakkunje within the limits of Kota police station on Friday August 3 afternoon.
The student who killed himself in this manner was Pratheeksh (16), a first year commerce department student of the PU College at Bidkalkatte.
Pratheeksh belonged to a poor family. It is said that he desired to have his own cellphone after finding that other students of his college brought their phones with them. He had been forcefully putting forth demand for a mobile phone, but the family, being poor, refused to meet his demand.
Disturbed at this denial, Pratheeksh waited for all the other members of his family to go out and hanged himself at his home when alone.
The teenager has left behind parents and a younger sister.
