Mangaluru: 2014 love triangle – Sushma and Harish get life term for Avinash’s murder

Mangaluru, Aug 5: A girl who instigated the current lover to murder her former lover, and the man who executed the murder, were found guilty of their respective offences by the sixth additional district and sessions court here.

The court sentenced both of them to life term imprisonment and fine of Rs 25,000 each. If they fail to pay the prescribed fine, their jail terms will be extended by two months.

The persons who have been ordered to undergo these sentences are Gaviranga alias Ranga (28) from Andhanakere village, Tipatur taluk, Tumakuru district, and Sushma Precilla (28), resident of Padubail in Mulky Karnad. Avinash Suvarna (21) from Karkala Kendottu Padavu was the victim of their plan.

While Gaviranga faced charge of murder under section 302 of Indian Penal Code, Sushma Precilla was charged with abetment to commit murder. Judge of the court, D T Puttaranga Swamy, had concluded on Thursday that the charges against both of them had been proved. On Saturday, he announced the quantum of sentence.

The judge ordered to disburse Rs 40.000 out of the fine collected to the father of Avinash as compensation. He also mentioned that the victim's father is eligible to claim compensation from the district legal services authority.

Mulky police inspector, Ramachandra Naik, had conducted investigation in the case and filed charge sheet.

Public prosecutor, Judith Olga Margaret Crasta, had argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.
