Mangalore, Oct 13: Terrorism is against humanity and Islam never supports it. All should work collectively to eliminate terrorism from the world, said A P Abubakkar, Musliar of Kantapuram, and general secretary, All India Sunni Scholars’ Forum.
Speaking to media persons in the city on Sunday October 12, he said that Islam has always propagated peace and humanity in the world. But some elements are misusing the name of Islam and equating it with terrorist activities, he alleged. Therefore, the word ‘Islamic terrorism’ has been used widely in the media. There is no relation between terrorism and Islam. Hence, the youth of the community youth should be careful, he advised.
He accused the police of arresting innocent youths in the name of terrorism. They are being tortured and harassed in police custody. This should stop, said Abubakkar. A few decades ago, the Jews, acting as Muslims, spread terrorism in many parts of the country and spoke Arabic to show they were Muslims, he said. Finally, the name of Muslims was tarnished by them. One should identify these kinds of plans used by Jews, he cautioned.
Y A Kunhi, president, Islamic Cultural Centre, said there are 20 crore Muslims in India, of which maybe a 100 might be involved in terrorism. Therefore, one cannot brand all the Muslims as terrorists, he asserted.
The police give wide publicity when a terror suspect is arrested, but no one cares when they are acquitted, he added. Abubakker also said that as per doctors opinion, brain mapping can harm the person. But the police are conducting brain mapping repeatedly, he accused. Former union minister C M Ibrahim, S M Rashid, and B M Mumtaz Ali were present at the press meet.
