Puttur: Goods tempo topples at Kallaje - two dead, many injured

Puttur, Aug 9: Two labourers died and several sustained injuries after a goods tempo toppled at Kallaje on Uppinangadi-Subramanya state highway here on Thursday August 9.

The deceased are Chinnamma (55), a resident of Kokkada near Nelyadi and Harish (30).

Geetha (38), who was in the tempo has suffered serious injuries and was shifted to a private hospital in Puttur.



Vishwanath, Kiran, Janaki, Nithesh, Hemavathi, Raju, Naveen, Muthappa and Bhavith escaped with minor injuries.

The mishap occurred when the tempo carrying concrete mixer from Mardhala to Subramanya toppled after the driver lost control over the vehicle near Kallaje Bridge.

Kadaba police are investigating.

    It was mandatory to not to carry concrete mixer inside a van witty people in it a few years back. Either mixer should be towed or transported separately without people in it.
    But the contractor does not follow these rules. Sad poor labourers have to lose their life.
