Mangaluru, Aug 9: The youth Congress leaders and their supporters fought in public in city on Thursday, August 9.
On the remembrance of Quit India Movement, district Congress committee organised a programme in Town Hall on Thursday morning. Before the programme, there was a rally from Tagore Park to Town hall. Former minister Ramanath Rai, DCC president Harish Kumar , KPCC secretary Naveen D Souza, Former MLA J.R Lobo and many district congress leaders participated in the programme.
After the programme was over, the youth came out in two groups led by Mithun Rai, president Youth Congress and Puneeth Shetty, president of INTUC. After exchanging some words both the groups started to fight with each other. The ugly fight was witnessed by senior Congress leaders.
Later some leaders succeeded in stopping the fight.
Speaking to media persons later, Puneeth Shetty said, "Mithun Rai is involved in many criminal activities. People do not have good opinion about him. He is functioning like an autocrat in youth Congress. Youth are not happy with his leadership. So senior leaders should take necessary steps,"
